Organisations now depend on data for pricing, service delivery, regulatory returns and analytics, yet few can say who is accountable for a given dataset or how reliable it is. When governance is informal, the same customer appears under several identities, reports disagree and personal information is shared without clear authority. Applying risk management discipline makes these weaknesses visible and gives leaders a way to decide where to invest.
This programme combines the language of enterprise risk management with the practice of data governance. Participants begin by defining the data landscape and the operating model that governs it. They then learn how to find risks across the data life cycle, from capture and storage to sharing, retention and disposal, and how to rate them by likelihood and impact. Quality is treated as a measurable property, with profiling, rule definition, monitoring and root cause analysis. Later sessions explain stewardship roles, decision rights, policies, issue escalation and the metrics that show whether the framework is working.
Teaching is workshop based. Delegates apply each technique to anonymised sample data and to a scenario organisation, and they leave with a draft risk register and stewardship charter that can be adapted for their own workplace.
