Smallholder agriculture is among the hardest environments for digital service delivery. Farmers live with weather shocks, volatile prices and uneven connectivity, while the platforms that serve them must manage thin margins, fragile partnerships and fast-moving regulation. When something goes wrong, trust is lost quickly and rarely returns.
The Risk Management for Digital Agritech for Smallholders Training Course gives teams a structured way to think about this. It starts with the risk landscape and the principles of enterprise risk management, then examines each layer of a typical agritech offer: the technology, the content, the channel, the money flows, the data and the people who make it work in the field. Participants learn to rate risks, choose proportionate controls and design monitoring that picks up problems early.
Work is built on realistic case files from advisory, fintech, market linkage and insurance platforms. Each delegate produces a risk register, a mitigation plan with owners and triggers, and a short brief for decision makers on residual risks that need funding or policy support. Facilitators draw attention to the trade-off between protecting the business and protecting the farmer, since the two interests do not always align.
