Industrial growth across Africa has expanded the use of acids, solvents, pesticides, fuels and process gases in factories, laboratories, farms and water works. With that growth comes a duty to manage the potential for fires, toxic releases, explosions and long-term health effects. Regulators, insurers and communities expect operators to show that hazards are understood and controls are working, and a single serious event can end an operation and a career.
Strategic Chemical Handling, Laboratory and Process Safety offers a leadership-level view of the field. Participants start with chemical hazards and the legal and management framework, move through safe handling, storage and transport, and then examine laboratory practice from risk assessment to waste. The second half of the week introduces process safety management: identifying scenarios, evaluating safeguards, controlling change and permits, maintaining equipment integrity, preparing emergency response and learning from incidents.
The learning style is applied. Delegates review labels, safety data sheets and layouts, analyse accident case histories and carry out a simplified hazard study of a process. They leave with a gap assessment and an improvement plan for their own site.
