The Strategy and Innovation in Agri-Finance & Value-Chain Lending Training Course equips lenders to build profitable, resilient agricultural portfolios. It opens with the economics of farming and the main sources of agricultural risk, then shows how to analyse a value chain from input supply to processing and export, and where finance can be safely inserted. Credit assessment techniques adapted to seasonal businesses follow, together with loan structuring, collateral substitutes and the instruments that link lenders to buyers and aggregators. Later sessions cover guarantees, insurance and blended finance, digital channels and data-driven scoring, and the strategy decisions behind product design, partnerships and portfolio limits.

Participants work through deal files for maize, dairy, horticulture and coffee value chains and test product ideas against real constraints. The week ends with each participant presenting an agri-finance product or portfolio strategy for their institution.
