Workplaces are being reshaped by a changing climate and by growing awareness of mental health at work. Employers must now think about heat exposure, flood and storm disruption and air quality in the same breath as workload, harassment and psychological safety. Organisations that wait for incidents to force a response typically face absenteeism, injury claims, staff turnover and reputational harm.
The Strategy and Innovation in Climate-Related and Psychosocial Workplace Risk Training Course gives safety, health and people leaders a framework for planning ahead. It begins with how climate hazards affect different jobs and how psychosocial hazards arise from work design and management. Participants learn to identify, assess and rank both groups of risks, use data from incident records, absence statistics and staff surveys, and align controls with ISO 45001 and the guidance in ISO 45003. The programme then turns to strategy: setting priorities, building a business case, choosing between engineering, organisational and individual controls, and testing innovative measures through small pilots.
Teaching relies on workplace scenarios from agriculture, construction, healthcare, hospitality and office environments. Participants practise facilitation, risk workshops and stakeholder presentations, and finish with a draft strategy and implementation roadmap suited to their organisation.
