Every organisation depends on people explaining complex matters to others who have little time: a board approving a budget, a donor deciding on a grant, a minister reading a brief, or a customer weighing a proposal. Many professionals have strong technical skills yet find that their messages are overlooked because the purpose is unclear, the structure is weak or the delivery lacks confidence. New tools and shorter attention spans have made the challenge sharper.
This course joins three connected skills: communicating strategically, presenting persuasively and writing professionally. Participants start by defining outcomes and stakeholders, then craft messages that suit different audiences and channels. They learn storyline structures for talks and papers, principles of visual design for slides and charts, and techniques for voice, body language and handling difficult questions. The writing component focuses on organisation, clarity, concision, tone and editing across common business documents, with space for fresh approaches such as one-page briefs, data stories and short videos.
Sessions are workshop-based, so participants spend most of their time producing and improving real material. They receive structured peer and facilitator feedback, and leave with a personal communication plan, a refreshed presentation and templates for the documents they write most often.
