Data governance programmes have a poor reputation. Many begin with a policy document and a committee, then fade because they never connect to business problems or give people practical tools. At the same time, demands are growing: regulators want accountability for personal data, analytics teams need reliable inputs, and artificial intelligence raises fresh questions about provenance, bias and consent.
This advanced programme treats governance as a strategic capability that must earn its place. It starts with value and risk: which decisions, processes and compliance duties depend on trusted data, and what the current state costs. Participants then design a target operating model with ownership, stewardship and escalation, define quality dimensions and measurement, and plan the supporting architecture for metadata, lineage and master data. A distinct strand looks at innovation, including automation of classification and quality checks, self-service data products, and governance fit for machine learning and generative tools.
Sessions are working clinics. Participants analyse sample maturity assessments and data incidents, and prepare a strategy outline, a stewardship charter and a staged roadmap with measures of success.
