Data Analytics for Quality Assurance and Six Sigma Training in South Africa

Classroom cohorts in Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg · live online · in-house anywhere in South Africa

Defects, rework and customer complaints are expensive, and they rarely fall unless teams can prove with data where variation comes from. Across ten days you learn to apply the DMAIC framework to quality projects, translating customer requirements into measurable critical-to-quality characteristics. Measurement system analysis and gauge R&R studies come first, because unreliable measurements undermine every later conclusion. You then build and interpret statistical process control charts, including X-bar and R, individuals and p-charts, and calculate process capability indices Cp and Cpk to judge whether a process can meet specification.

Root cause work relies on hypothesis testing, t-tests, ANOVA, chi-square, correlation and regression, so that suspected causes of defects are confirmed rather than assumed. Later sessions cover design of experiments basics, control plans and quality dashboards for monitoring improvements over time. Each technique is practised on manufacturing, laboratory and service datasets in guided exercises. Quality assurance officers, process engineers, production managers, lab analysts and continuous improvement practitioners preparing for Six Sigma project work will find it relevant. Afterwards you can analyse a process, pinpoint verified causes of defects and present statistical evidence for improvement decisions.

About this course

Quality improvement projects often stall because the underlying data analysis is weak, not because the Six Sigma framework itself is flawed. This course strengthens that analytical foundation, covering statistical process control, capability analysis and hypothesis testing within the structure of the DMAIC methodology.

Participants apply these techniques to realistic production and service process datasets, building control charts, conducting root-cause analysis and quantifying the financial impact of quality improvements, so projects can be defended with data at every gate review.

Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from technology organizations, digital transformation programmes, data-driven enterprises, and public sector IT environments, examining how data analytics for quality assurance and six sigma is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for feedback and refinement, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.

Training Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop robust data analytics for quality assurance and six sigma frameworks that support successful implementation and measurable outcomes.
