Power cuts, ransomware, floods, supplier failure and civil unrest rarely arrive with warning, and customers judge an organisation by how quickly it recovers. A continuity programme that exists only as a binder on a shelf will fail on the day it matters. This five-day workshop is built around practice: you will build, test and improve the working parts of a resilience programme.
The sessions follow the ISO 22301 lifecycle. You carry out a business impact analysis, set recovery time and recovery point objectives, assess threats and single points of failure, and choose continuity strategies for people, premises, technology and suppliers. You write business continuity plans, incident management and crisis communication procedures, and schedule tabletop and live exercises. A final day covers operational resilience, including critical services, impact tolerances and board reporting. It suits business continuity coordinators, operations and facilities managers, risk and compliance officers, ICT and disaster recovery leads, banking and insurance staff, and public sector managers responsible for service delivery. Classroom, online and in-house formats run with a CPD-accredited certificate. You return able to present a tested plan and a realistic exercise calendar to executive leadership.
Modern organisations depend on a thin chain of electricity, connectivity, suppliers, systems and skilled people, and the loss of any link can halt revenue within hours. Regulators in banking, insurance and public services increasingly ask institutions to show that they can keep critical services running through disruption, not just recover afterwards. Boards want evidence, which means plans that have been tested and results that are recorded.
The Applied Business Continuity and Operational Resilience programme moves participants step by step through building a working capability. It starts with governance and policy, then applies business impact analysis and risk assessment to identify the activities that matter most and the time within which they must be restored. Participants select recovery strategies, write plans for continuity, IT disaster recovery and crisis response, and design exercises that expose weaknesses before an incident does. The closing sessions extend the discipline to operational resilience, mapping critical services to the people, processes, technology and third parties behind them.
Everything is done in working sessions. Using a case organisation or their own, participants produce draft documents they can adapt, and take part in a facilitated simulation that tests their decisions under time pressure.
