Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training Course

Unresolved disputes between colleagues, departments, clients or partners drain time, damage morale and can escalate into grievances or legal claims. You begin by understanding the sources and stages of conflict and the five conflict styles described by the Thomas-Kilmann model. Communication sessions build active listening, questioning, reframing and de-escalation skills that calm tense conversations. The mediation day sets out the role of a neutral third party, the stages of a mediation from opening statement to agreement, caucuses, confidentiality and managing power imbalances.

Negotiation sessions apply interest-based problem solving, generating options and using objective criteria to move parties from fixed positions to workable solutions. The final day covers restoring relationships after a dispute, drafting and following up agreements and creating early warning systems that prevent recurrence. Much of the week is spent in mediation role-plays with observers and structured feedback, so participants practise as both mediator and disputant. HR practitioners, managers, team leaders, union and staff representatives, community leaders and customer relations staff will gain the confidence to facilitate fair, durable settlements between people who need to keep working together.
