Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Training Course

Investors, lenders, regulators and large customers now ask detailed questions about emissions, labour practices and board oversight, and weak answers can raise the cost of capital or cost a contract. The week opens with how ESG links to long-term value, risk and reputation, and how to run a materiality assessment that identifies the issues that matter to your business and stakeholders. Environmental sessions cover energy, water and waste management, greenhouse gas accounting across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, and climate risk. Social topics include human rights, labour standards, health and safety, community relations and stakeholder engagement.

Governance days examine board responsibilities, ethics, anti-corruption controls and accountability for sustainability targets. The final day is about measurement and disclosure, comparing GRI, the ISSB standards IFRS S1 and S2, and TCFD recommendations, and setting KPIs, data controls and assurance readiness. Participants work through a case company to draft a materiality matrix and an outline ESG report. Sustainability officers, finance and risk managers, compliance teams, company secretaries and board members gain a practical basis for building, measuring and reporting an ESG programme that holds up to investor and regulator scrutiny.

About this course

This Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) training focuses on helping participants understand and apply ESG principles to improve sustainability, accountability, and organizational performance. The course explores environmental management, social impact, governance frameworks, ESG reporting, stakeholder engagement, and risk management practices. Participants will gain practical skills for implementing ESG initiatives and supporting responsible business operations.

Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from industrial sites, construction operations, healthcare facilities, and regulated workplace environments, examining how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for governance, ethics, and accountability, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.
