Energy is often the largest controllable running cost of an office block, hotel, hospital or school, and buildings are a growing source of emissions as cities expand. Owners and facilities teams who cannot measure consumption cannot manage it, and tenants and lenders increasingly ask for evidence of efficiency. Five days equip property and facilities professionals to take control of building energy use. You set up metering and sub-metering, normalise data for weather and occupancy, and benchmark performance using energy use intensity.
Walk-through audit sessions identify losses in HVAC, lighting, envelope, hot water and plant, followed by retrofit options, payback and life-cycle cost analysis. Further sessions cover building management systems, solar photovoltaic integration, green building rating tools, greenhouse gas baselines under the GHG Protocol and a decarbonisation roadmap. Facilities managers, property managers, building services engineers, asset managers, sustainability officers and public estate managers will benefit. Formats are classroom, online and in-house on your own premises, with a CPD-accredited certificate on completion.
Buildings use a large share of the electricity consumed in most cities, and much of it is wasted through oversized plant, poor controls, leaky envelopes and habits that no one has measured. For owners, wasted energy is a direct hit on net operating income. For occupiers and investors, it is increasingly a reputational and financing question as carbon reporting and green lending criteria spread.
This programme follows the path a building manager takes from data to decarbonisation. Participants start with energy accounting: reading bills, installing meters, cleaning interval data and calculating performance indicators for comparison across a portfolio. They then examine how energy is used in major building systems, learn to run a structured audit, and prioritise measures by cost, savings and disruption. The later sessions address on-site renewables, procurement of cleaner power, carbon accounting and the governance needed to keep savings from eroding after a project ends.
Teaching relies on sample building data, audit templates and a site walk-through exercise. Participants complete a baseline, a short list of costed measures and a phased roadmap for a building or portfolio they manage.
After the training, participants will be able to:
Each participant takes away:
The course is hands-on and uses real building data wherever possible. It includes:
Day 1: Energy Use in Buildings and Performance Metrics
Day 2: Energy Audits and Systems Review
Day 3: Retrofit Planning and Financial Analysis
Day 4: Controls, Renewables and Green Building Standards
Day 5: Carbon Accounting, Roadmap and Verification
The programme is aimed at those who own, operate or advise on buildings, such as:
On completing all sessions and the practical work, each participant receives a CPD-accredited Certificate of Completion from Vision Reach Global Consultancy, recording the programme title and dates attended.

Everything you need to know about this course before you register.
By the end of the Management of Building Energy Performance & Decarbonisation programme, you'll be able to establish an energy and carbon baseline for a building using bills, meters and interval data, benchmark performance with energy use intensity and normalise for weather and occupancy, conduct a walk-through energy audit of hvac, lighting, envelope and plant, and evaluate retrofit options using payback, net present value and life-cycle cost. The full breakdown of topics is covered session by session in the Course Outline tab above.
The programme is aimed at those who own, operate or advise on buildings, such as: Facilities and property managers, Building services and mechanical or electrical engineers, Real estate asset and portfolio managers, Energy and sustainability officers in corporations, Public works and county estate managers, Hotel, hospital and university engineering managers, Green building consultants and quantity surveyors, and Developers and lenders assessing building performance.
