Organisations are being asked by lenders, regulators, customers and communities to show how much carbon they emit, how exposed they are to drought, flooding and heat, and what they intend to do about both. Answers need numbers that can be defended and plans that operations teams can carry out. Over five days you learn to build a greenhouse gas inventory using the GHG Protocol, covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, activity data, emission factors and uncertainty.
You then assess physical and transition climate risk, prepare adaptation measures for facilities, supply chains and communities, and set science-informed reduction targets. Further sessions cover energy efficiency, renewable options, carbon markets and offsets, climate finance, and disclosure frameworks such as TCFD and ISSB. Exercises use spreadsheet inventories and a sample facility case. Environmental and sustainability officers, HSE managers, operations and facilities managers, climate and development programme staff, and finance professionals will benefit. The programme runs in the classroom, online or in-house with a CPD-accredited certificate. You finish able to compile an inventory and draft a climate action plan.
Climate change has moved from a reporting topic to an operational one. Heat, erratic rainfall and extreme events disrupt production, logistics and staff safety, while carbon-related costs and disclosure requirements are rising in many markets. Organisations that cannot measure their emissions or explain their adaptation plans find it harder to win contracts, attract funding and satisfy their boards.
The Operational Excellence in Climate Action, Adaptation & Carbon Accounting Training Course builds the technical and management skills to respond. Participants start with climate science essentials and the policy and market context, then learn carbon accounting step by step: setting boundaries, collecting data, applying emission factors, calculating results and checking quality. They then turn to climate risk assessment, adaptation planning and mitigation options, and finish by integrating climate objectives into operational procedures, performance indicators and management review.
The course is highly practical. Participants build a working emissions inventory from supplied data, run a vulnerability screening for a site or programme, rank mitigation options by cost and impact, and draft a short climate action plan with owners, deadlines and indicators. The materials suit private companies, public bodies and development organisations alike.
