A single weak control, an overstated capital ratio or a missed suspicious transaction can cost a bank its licence, its reputation and its depositors' confidence. Supervisors and compliance teams sit on opposite sides of the table, yet both need the same technical command of how banks take and manage risk. Over five days you study risk-based supervision, the CAMELS rating approach, Basel II and III capital and liquidity measures, credit risk and provisioning under IFRS 9, and the governance expected of boards and senior management.
You also work through anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls, customer due diligence, sanctions screening, on-site inspection planning, off-site analysis and enforcement tools. Exercises use sample bank returns, ratio analysis and examination findings. Central bank and regulatory authority examiners, compliance officers, risk managers, internal auditors, MLROs and senior bank managers will gain the most. Delivery is by classroom, online or in-house delivery, and the CPD-accredited certificate completes the programme. Afterwards you can analyse a bank's prudential position, prepare an examination report and design a practical compliance monitoring plan.
Banks hold public deposits and sit at the centre of payments and credit, so the standards applied to them are among the most demanding in any economy. Regulators are tightening expectations on capital, liquidity, governance, financial crime and consumer conduct, and banks that fall short face penalties, restrictions and loss of market confidence. Supervisors and compliance professionals therefore need a shared, current understanding of what sound banking looks like and how to test it.
The Professional Banking Supervision & Regulatory Compliance Training Course covers the supervisory cycle from licensing to enforcement. Participants examine the legal basis for supervision, the Basel Core Principles, risk-based approaches to on-site and off-site work, capital adequacy and liquidity coverage measurement, asset quality and expected credit loss, operational and cyber risk, and corporate governance. A full day is devoted to AML and CFT, including risk assessments, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting and the role of the compliance function.
Learning is case driven. Participants analyse anonymised bank financial statements, build a supervisory risk profile, draft examination findings and design a compliance monitoring programme with testing, reporting and remediation tracking. Each leaves with a practical toolkit adaptable to their institution or authority.
