Rising heat, floods and disrupted supply routes are changing the conditions in which people work, and the pressure of uncertainty, long hours and organisational change is changing how they cope. Five days show senior safety, HR and risk professionals how to manage the two together. Participants learn to map climate hazards against workplaces and tasks, set heat and weather action thresholds, plan for evacuation and continuity, and protect outdoor, field and shift workers.
Parallel sessions address psychosocial hazards: workload, role conflict, bullying, harassment, violence, isolation and exposure to distressing events. You apply ISO 45003 guidance, risk assessment tools and stress audits, and learn how to design supportive interventions, return-to-work arrangements and manager capability. The week closes by combining both streams in a strategic risk register, with indicators, budget cases and reporting suitable for executives and boards. It is suited to HSE managers, occupational health practitioners, HR directors, risk and sustainability leads, and operations managers in sectors such as construction, agriculture, mining, healthcare, humanitarian response and manufacturing. Delivery is classroom, online or in-house, ending with a CPD-accredited certificate. Afterwards you can lead a combined assessment and present a prioritised action plan to leadership.
Employers across Africa are dealing with two changes at once. Climate pressures are increasing exposure to extreme heat, flooding, storms, smoke and disease, while the mental health of workers is shaped by job demands, insecurity and the conditions of change. Traditional safety systems tend to treat these topics separately, or leave psychosocial risk to occasional wellness events. The result is gaps in assessment, unclear ownership and costs that surface as absence, accidents and staff turnover.
This programme takes a strategic view. It starts from how risk management standards define hazards and controls, then examines the climate-related risks that affect health and safety at work, from heat illness to disrupted transport and emergency response. It then moves to psychosocial risks, their causes in work design and management practice, and the controls that are most effective. Participants study how the two interact, for example when heatwaves lengthen shifts and fatigue erodes decision making.
The final sessions concentrate on governance: combining findings into a single risk register, setting objectives, allocating resources, measuring results and reporting to leaders. Delivery uses worked assessments, scenario exercises and templates, and each participant builds a plan for their own organisation.
