Information now travels faster than any organisation can verify it. A single video or post can shape public opinion before the first official statement is drafted, and regulators, investors, donors and staff all expect prompt and consistent explanation. Strategic communication is therefore both a defence in emergencies and a daily discipline that builds the credibility needed when trouble arrives.
This advanced programme assumes participants already understand media relations and want deeper capability. It begins with risk and reputation audits, issue management and the anatomy of different crisis types, from operational failures and safety incidents to governance scandals and political controversy. Participants design crisis structures, define roles, prepare scenario playbooks and rehearse decision making under pressure. They examine ethical and legal constraints, apologies and accountability, and how to handle vulnerable audiences and affected families.
Alongside crisis management, the course sharpens strategic communication: audience analysis, narrative architecture, message discipline, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of traditional and digital channels. Delivery relies on case analysis, media training in front of a camera, and an extended simulation in which teams respond to unfolding events. Participants leave with a tested crisis plan template, a library of holding statements, and personal feedback on their spokesperson performance.
