Arbitration and mediation have always depended on evidence, but the volume and form of that evidence has changed. A single construction or commercial dispute can now involve hundreds of thousands of emails, project schedules, ledgers and site records, while clients and funders want a reasoned view of a case's value and likely duration before they commit fees. ADR institutions, for their part, face pressure to publish performance figures and show that their processes are efficient and fair.
The Data and Analytics for Arbitration, Mediation & Dispute Resolution Training Course gives legal and claims professionals a working command of the analytical methods now used at every stage of a dispute. It begins with structuring dispute data and building reliable case chronologies, moves through quantum and interest calculations, and then turns to probabilistic tools that support settlement strategy and mediation preparation. Later sessions examine document review analytics, the evidential weight of expert data, institutional performance metrics, and the confidentiality, privacy and bias questions raised by AI-assisted tools.
Teaching is hands-on. Participants work in Excel and Power BI with anonymised claim files, build a decision tree for a commercial dispute, test a damages model against opposing assumptions and design a caseload dashboard. Each exercise is tied to a real procedural moment, from the request for arbitration to the final award or settlement agreement.
On completing the programme, participants will be able to:
