Poorly managed assets cost organisations twice: once through avoidable failures and again through weak financial reporting. Government agencies, utilities, hospitals, universities and manufacturers all hold assets whose records are incomplete, whose condition is unknown and whose replacement is not funded. Boards and auditors increasingly ask for a joined-up view that links physical condition, financial value and strategic purpose.
The Executive Asset Management (Fixed Assets, ISO 55001) Training Course provides that view. It opens with the principles of asset management and the value assets deliver, then sets out the fixed asset lifecycle from acquisition to disposal, including recognition, capitalisation, depreciation and impairment. Participants then study the requirements of the ISO 55001 management system: context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement. Practical sessions cover asset registers, criticality ranking, maintenance strategies, lifecycle cost analysis and capital planning.
The course is aimed at decision makers, so each session ends with a management product, such as a board paper, a prioritised renewal plan or a gap assessment. Participants finish with a roadmap tailored to their own organisation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
