Regulatory expectations for banks across Africa have risen steadily, with central banks adopting Basel-aligned capital and liquidity rules, tougher anti-money laundering standards and closer attention to the quality of boards and management. At the same time, banks face a growing volume of circulars, returns and examination requests, and a single compliance failure can reach the headlines within hours. Strong governance and a competent compliance function are now a condition of doing business.
The Governance and Compliance in Banking Supervision & Regulatory Compliance Training Course explains how the supervisory framework works and what it demands inside the institution. Participants examine the roles of the board, committees, risk, compliance and internal audit, and the three lines model that ties them together. They study prudential requirements, reporting to the regulator, consumer protection and financial crime controls, and learn how supervisors plan examinations, rate institutions and follow up on findings.
Teaching combines structured input with worked examples, sample examination reports and short case studies of governance failures. Participants practise drafting compliance plans, responding to findings and briefing the board, and they leave with templates they can adapt immediately.
