Business intelligence platforms have made it easy for anyone to connect to data and publish a chart, and that ease is the source of the governance problem. Without agreed definitions, different teams report different revenue figures. Without access control, sensitive staff, customer or beneficiary records reach people who should not see them. Without lineage, nobody can say which report breaks when a source system changes.
This advanced programme treats governance as an enabler rather than a brake. Participants design the operating model first: ownership of data and reports, the approval path from development to production, and the standards for naming, documentation and certification. They then implement controls in Power BI and Tableau, working through workspace and site structure, permission models, row-level security, data classification and sharing restrictions.
The remaining sessions address compliance and assurance, including privacy requirements, data quality rules, change control, monitoring of usage and refreshes, and the evidence that auditors expect. Participants work in a lab environment with sample data, build a governance checklist and leave with a policy outline, a security matrix and a monitoring plan for their own BI estate.
