Data has become one of the largest sources of operational and legal risk. Weak controls expose organisations to fines, reputational damage and unreliable analytics, while unclear ownership slows every project that depends on data. Good governance replaces ad hoc fixes with agreed rules, accountable people and routine measurement.
The Governance and Compliance in Data Governance, Quality & Stewardship Training Course takes participants from the foundations of a governance programme to everyday stewardship practice. They learn how to secure sponsorship, choose an operating model, write policies that people will follow and assign owners and stewards with realistic responsibilities. The course then turns to quality: defining rules for completeness, accuracy, validity, timeliness and uniqueness, profiling data, tracing root causes and tracking improvement.
A compliance thread runs through the week. Participants map personal and regulated data, apply classification and retention rules, review third-party sharing and prepare evidence for audits and supervisory inquiries. Sessions combine short lectures, templates and workshops using sample datasets and policy extracts. Each participant ends with a draft governance charter, a stewardship role description, a quality scorecard and a compliance gap list for their own organisation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
