Product recalls, fraud allegations, data breaches, industrial accidents, political controversy and viral social media posts can damage an organisation within hours. Leaders who have never rehearsed such moments tend to hesitate, contradict one another and say too much or too little. Those who have prepared respond with clarity, protect people first and preserve the credibility they will need for recovery.
This programme addresses the senior leader's responsibilities in a crisis and in everyday strategic communication. Participants begin by examining what makes an event a crisis, how to scan for early warnings and how to set up a crisis management team with clear roles and decision authority. The sessions then develop communication craft: composing the first statement, briefing spokespeople, handling hostile interviews, coordinating internal and external audiences and using digital channels responsibly. A further block links communication to performance, covering reputation as a strategic asset, alignment of messages with organisational strategy and the leadership behaviours that sustain morale during disruption.
Teaching relies on case analysis, rehearsal and simulation. Each participant produces a crisis communication plan for their own organisation and receives candid feedback on their personal style.
