Demand for fish, eggs, milk and meat is rising across Africa, yet many producers still run their units without cost records, written health plans or a clear picture of what each animal or pond contributes to profit. Diseases move quickly between units that share equipment and people, and weak water, feed or housing management quietly reduces growth and survival long before problems become visible.
This programme treats aquaculture, poultry and livestock as managed enterprises. Participants begin with production planning and site requirements, then work through species-specific systems: pond, tank and cage culture for tilapia and catfish; brooding, layer and broiler management in poultry; and grazing, stall-feeding and breeding management for cattle, goats and sheep. Cross-cutting sessions cover feed formulation and costing, veterinary and fish-health programmes, biosecurity protocols, waste management, welfare standards, record keeping and the economics of each enterprise.
Learning is practical and scenario based. Participants build ration sheets, vaccination calendars and enterprise budgets from sample farm data, and finish by assembling an integrated production and marketing plan for a unit they manage or intend to start.
