Banks operate on public trust and borrowed money, which is why they are regulated more closely than almost any other business. Supervisors must spot weaknesses in capital, asset quality, liquidity and governance early enough to act, while banks must prove to regulators, auditors and correspondent partners that their compliance framework works in practice rather than only on paper. Both sides face rising demands from new capital rules, digital lending, mobile money and tighter financial crime expectations.
The Practical Banking Supervision & Regulatory Compliance Training Course gives participants a working method for each stage of the supervisory and compliance cycle. It starts with the objectives of supervision and the architecture of the Basel framework, then moves through risk-based planning, analysis of financial statements and returns, and examination of credit, market, liquidity and operational risk. Later sessions cover corporate governance, AML and sanctions controls, conduct and consumer protection, and the enforcement tools available when a bank falls short.
Each topic is taught through ratio exercises, sample bank data and mock examinations. Participants finish the week having produced an inspection plan, a short report of findings and a compliance monitoring calendar they can adapt for their own institution.
