Decision Making and Problem Solving Training Course in Tanzania

Classroom cohorts in Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Dodoma · live online · in-house anywhere in Tanzania

Poor decisions are usually made quickly, on incomplete information, by people under pressure, which describes most working days. This course provides structured methods that improve both the speed and the quality of judgement. You will diagnose problems properly with root-cause tools such as the five whys, fishbone diagrams and Pareto analysis, then generate and evaluate options using decision matrices, cost-benefit thinking and risk assessment. Realistic scenarios from operations, finance, human resources and public service let you apply each tool to problems that look like your own, and compare how different groups reached their conclusions.

Further sessions explore cognitive biases such as anchoring, confirmation bias and groupthink, how to make sound choices under uncertainty, and how to run group decisions that are both inclusive and timely. Implementation planning and simple after-action reviews make sure good choices are actually carried through and learned from. Managers, supervisors, analysts and professionals at any level will find it useful. Participants leave with a practical problem-solving toolkit and a worked example from their own job.

About this course

The Decision Making and Problem Solving Training Course is designed for professionals who need practical, current command of decision making and problem solving and the ability to translate it into measurable organizational results. With rising scrutiny of performance and value for money, institutions need practitioners who can work to recognized standards and defend their decisions with evidence. This certified programme combines proven methodology with hands-on application, covering decision-making, problem diagnosis and analysis and the analytical techniques that underpin sound professional judgement.

Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from public sector institutions, private enterprises, development organizations, and regulated professional environments, examining how decision making and problem solving is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down.
