Spreadsheets pasted into slide decks answer last month's question, while managers need to explore live figures, drill into exceptions and act while there is time. Five hands-on days teach you to build dashboards people actually open. You connect to Excel, CSV files, SQL databases and cloud sources, clean and shape data with Power Query and Tableau Prep, and design star-schema data models with relationships that return correct totals.
In Power BI you write DAX measures, time intelligence and row-level security; in Tableau you build calculated fields, level-of-detail expressions, parameters and actions. Design sessions cover choosing the right chart, layout, colour, accessibility and storytelling for executive audiences, followed by publishing through Power BI Service and Tableau Server or Cloud, scheduled refresh and sharing. Analysts, finance and sales reporting staff, monitoring and evaluation officers, programme managers and IT teams supporting reporting will benefit. The Practical Dashboards & BI (Power BI, Tableau) Training Course takes participants through the complete reporting workflow in both leading tools. It starts with defining business questions and key performance indicators, then moves to data connection, cleaning and transformation. Participants model data with fact and dimension tables, build calculations in DAX and in Tableau's calculation language, and construct visualisations including maps, matrices, trend lines and KPI cards. Further sessions address performance tuning, interactivity, security and governance, and the publication and maintenance of reports in a shared workspace.
Every concept is practised on supplied datasets resembling sales, finance, survey and programme data. By the end, each delegate has built and presented a working dashboard and holds a checklist for reviewing the quality of any report before release.
